The University of the Philippines will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia) on 26 January 2015, Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. at the Board of Regents Room, Quezon Hall, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.
UP, Ateneo De Manila University, De La Salle University and UKM will be signing a MOA for the conduct of the ASEAN Youth Volunteers Programme Philippines (AYVP) 2016. The AYVP is a volunteer program hosted by UKM which would allow students of these institutions to have knowledge-driven volunteer work on community issues found in the ASEAN.
The MOU between UP and UKM is expected to allow for the enhanced interaction and greater collaboration between the two national universities, fostering a relationship which would be beneficial to the scholars and students of the two institutions. These arrangements will also allow for the sharing of resources between institutions in research as well as cultural exchanges.
Expected to attend the event are Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Noor Azlan Ghazali, University of the Philippines President Alfredo E. Pascual, Ateneo De Manila University President Fr. Jose T. Villarin, SJ and De La Salle University President Bro. Raymundo Suplido, FSC. Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chair Patricia Licuanan, Executive Director Joselito de Vera of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, Department of Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary of the Office of ASEAN Affairs Ambassador Maria Hellen B. Dela Vega and Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Datu Mohammad Zamri Mohammad Kassim are also expected to witness the event.
