UP, Pangasinan LGU undergo workshop for Center for Pangasinan Studies

University of the Philippines Vice President Prospero de Vera, UP Baguio Chancellor Raymond Rovillos, and UP Los Baños Graduate School Dean Dong Camacho lead the UP experts in organizing the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS) in collaboration with the provincial government and the University of Luzon, PHINMA-University of Pangasinan, Lyceum Northwestern University, Colegio de Dagupan, & Virgen Milagrosa University at the Provincial Capitol complex in Lingayen, Pangasinan earlier today.

The creation of the CPS forms part of the UP-Pangasinan Memorandum of Understanding signed between UP President Alfredo Pascual and Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino in June 2015.

The UP-Pangasinan MoU brings together faculty members who trace their roots in Pangasinan who want to give back and help the province by bringing their expertise and network in the service of local communities in areas such as education, history, languages, culture and arts, architecture, urban planning, literature, health, governance and economic development.

Other UP experts who attended the workshop include UP System Assistant Vice President and UP Diliman College of Arts and Letters Prof. Wendell Capili, Dr. Marot Flores, Dr. Perla Legazpi of the National College of Public Administration and Governance and Dr. Jaime Veneracion of the UP Diliman Department of History.

Governor Espino and Provincial Administrator Raffy Baraan led the delegation from Pangasinan. The UP-Pangasinan MoU is being implemented as a public service initiative of UP under RA 9500.
