In celebration of cultural diversity and richness of talent, Manila will be host to the 14th International Festival of Language and Culture (IFLC) today, 02 February 2016 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila. The annual cultural celebration, which is held in more than 20 countries, showcases the talents of youth representatives from around the world who exhibit their language and culture through song and dance. The Philippines is the first venue of a series of regional festivals this year.
Themed “Colours of the World”, the Festival in Manila will feature talents from 14 countries including Australia, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Belarus, France, Romania, Philippines, Nepal, Bosnia & Herzegovina, USA, India, Thailand and Bangladesh.
The IFLC aims to contribute to the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Philippines by encouraging and motivating students below 16 years old, to display their skills, knowledge and cultural uniqueness in friendly festival. Aside from cultural appreciation, the Festival also aims to promote tolerance, friendship and efficient communication amongst children of different cultural backgrounds.
As different nationalities gather in the Philippines to share their culture, local talents will also get to promote the country as they will also visit other countries and represent the Filipino language and culture.
The 14th IFLC is sponsored by Integrative Center for Alternative Development Foundation in Manila, and co-organized by the Pacific Dialogue Foundation.
The event is held in partnership with the Department of Education, Department of Tourism, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, National Commission of Culture and Arts, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Ateneo De Manila University and the University of the Philippines.
